Privacy Policy

This policy describes how GCal Cleaner handles information. The operator of GCal Cleaner is Vladyslav Kysil, located in Ukraine. Contact: twainprod.dev@gmail.com.

GCal Cleaner is a browser tool that helps you bulk delete Google Calendar events. The hosted GCal Cleaner app is separate from these marketing pages.

1. Summary

• The marketing pages use Google Analytics to measure visits. The app does not include that tag.
• The app has no GCal Cleaner backend. Your browser talks to Google. Calendar contents are not stored on a GCal Cleaner server.
• After you sign in, an access token and basic profile details are kept in your browser’s localStorage so you can return during the token’s lifetime.

2. This marketing website

These pages (home, privacy, terms of use, and the 404 page) are static files. Your browser and the host (for example Netlify) may collect standard server logs such as IP address, user agent, and requested URL. We do not use that log data to identify you, and we do not sell it.

The marketing site also loads Google Analytics (GA4) via Google’s gtag.js. Google may set cookies or use similar storage and receives usage data such as pages viewed, device and browser type, and approximate location. That data is processed by Google as described in the Google Privacy Policy. The GCal Cleaner app does not load this tag.

3. The GCal Cleaner app

When you open the app and connect Google Calendar, Google Identity Services runs in your browser. The app requests these OAuth scopes:

• https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events - list and delete events
• https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.calendarlist.readonly - list your calendars
• https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.calendars - delete a secondary calendar you own
• https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.email and https://www.googleapis.com/auth/userinfo.profile - show your name, email, and picture

Event titles, times, calendar names, and other Calendar data are requested from Google’s Calendar API in your browser so the app can show a preview and perform deletions you confirm. That data is not sent to a GCal Cleaner server because there is not one.

4. Information stored on your device

The app may store in localStorage on your device:

• A short-lived Google access token and its expiry time
• Your Google name, email, and profile picture (to show the signed-in account)
• The last writable calendar you selected (calendar id only)
• UI preferences such as timeslot and recurring-delete mode

Sign out revokes the token when possible and clears this stored session. You can also delete the site’s data in your browser settings.

5. What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not use your calendar contents for advertising.
• We do not email event guests when you delete (the app uses Google’s sendUpdates=none).
• We do not require a GCal Cleaner account. You sign in with Google.

6. Legal bases (if you are in the EEA/UK)

Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, processing in the app is based on your request to use the service (contract / steps at your request) and on your consent to Google OAuth. You can withdraw Google access in your Google Account permissions at any time. Marketing-site Analytics is based on legitimate interest in understanding how the public pages are used, or on consent where that is required.

7. Retention

We do not retain calendar data on a server. Device storage lasts until you sign out, clear site data, or the token expires. Hosting logs follow the host’s retention practices.

8. Sharing

Calendar API traffic goes to Google. Hosting providers that serve these files (and the app) may process connection data as processors. Google Analytics on the marketing site also sends usage data to Google. We do not otherwise share your calendar contents with third parties.

9. Children

GCal Cleaner is not directed at children under 16. Do not use it if you are not allowed to consent to Google’s terms in your country.

10. Your choices

• Refuse or revoke Google Calendar access in your Google Account.
• Block or delete Analytics cookies in your browser, or use a tracker blocker. That does not affect the app’s Calendar connection.
• Sign out of the app and clear localStorage.
• Email twainprod.dev@gmail.com for privacy questions. Because we do not keep a user database, we typically cannot look up “your account” beyond what you send in that email.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. The “last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
